So I had the flaking we get from a lot of use of a smoker. I took the roll back lid off and brushed clean with a nylon scrub brush. Cleans off very easy from the Stainless Steel. Took less then 5 minutes including removing and replacing the hood.

All brushed off clean just with a light sweeping motion.

Hey Jim where's the after pics? I want to see how good it comes out.
What are those rectangular pieces with the two holes in them, on the front two corners of your hood?

That's what they look like when you don't use them.  Smiley

Sorry no after photos . I was just amazed how easy it cleaned off. The white squares are something like delrin which is a plastic that is used where contact may happen to allow smooth movement. The roll back lid on the MAK is easy to open and counter balanced well. Wait maybe that is a bad thing it makes it to easy to peak. The Gasser only looks clean. It still gets work it gets hot enough to self clean any grills you put in it. In fact I cooked a complete dinner on it last week.

Another idea...when like me you can't find a brush, you can crinkle up some aluminum foil and use it as a scratch pad.  works well.
